Napa Valley Arts in April begins in Calistoga with ‘SARAFORNIA’

A grassroots celebration spotlights the bohemian spirit of Calistoga, April 5-8

CALISTOGA, CA, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Throughout the month of April, the entire Napa Valley celebrates an arts-inspired series of events. In Calistoga, from April 5-8, the 8th annual “Arts in April” continues to foster a unique, identifiable sense of place through locally produced and presented events paired with Napa Valley’s wine, culinary and resort offerings. Calistoga’s anchor event, “SARAFORNIA”, will kick-off the monthly celebration featuring works that span artistic disciplines and genres.

During SARAFORNIA, art lovers near and far will enjoy the eclectic experiences of Flower Bomb, sip Calistoga wines and stroll through art galleries during the Creativity Crawl, and become spellbound by stories shared at the Storytelling Speakeasy.

Visit the immersive and interactive ENGAGE Art Fair at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga on Saturday and Sunday; then, catch the SARAFORNIA Streetcar, a festive decorated trolley, for a complimentary ride into downtown. Children will love riding on the streetcar, as well as the kid-friendly arts and crafts at Art in Bloom, hosted by the Calistoga Art Center.

Flower Bomb features fresh, artistic floral designs created in response to contemporary artworks in an exhibit titled “Artist Spring: The Fire and the Rose are One”. This visually explosive and fragrant exhibit will be held at Sofie Contemporary Arts, the newest gallery in Calistoga, located at 1407 Lincoln Avenue. The opening reception for Flower Bomb is Thursday, April 5 from 4-7 p.m. The floral installation will run through Sunday, April 8, with the art exhibit open through late May.

The Creativity Crawl on Saturday, April 7 from 4-7 p.m. highlights participating downtown art galleries, boutique shops and tasting rooms where guests may admire the works of artists such as Elizabeth and Olof Carmel, Carlo Marchiori, Guy Pederson, Paul Youngman and more. Socialize with local and Bay Area artists while sipping some of the world-class wines of Calistoga and listening to live music. Watch a chocolate painting demonstration by earth&sky chocolates chocolatier, Laura Koerth, see a chalk mural being created by artist, Chelsea Ritter-Sorenen of CHALK R!OT, and more, before heading up to the Storytelling Speakeasy.

At the Storytelling Speakeasy, the artistic medium of words takes center stage during the Storytelling Speakeasy on Saturday, April 7 from 6-9 p.m. at Tank Garage Winery, located at 1020 Foothill Boulevard in Calistoga. Inside this retro-chic winery, you will experience a curated presentation of spoken word, poetry and storytelling, interspersed with selections of live music to cleanse the mental palate. Wine will be available for purchase by the glass, and 1920s attire is encouraged, but not required.

Spend the weekend in Calistoga at a luxury resort or cozy B&B and experience the vibrant arts and culture of SARAFORNIA. This bohemian destination, known for wine, wellness and relaxation, is located at the top of the Napa Valley. Even better, Calistoga is a mere 30-minute drive from the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport, making it a most accessible destination within the Napa Valley.
