Volkswagen (VW) has globally introduced a brand-new innovative electric car concept dubbed, ID.Code. Loaded with all the latest technologies, the stylish SUV serves as a sneak peek at a new design language that will be used across the brand's China lineup. Notably, of the 16 electric ID electric cars scheduled to be in showrooms worldwide by the end of the decade, the coupe-styled SUV concept will be one of five new electric models intended exclusively for the Chinese market. According to Volkswagen, ID.Code is "a first glimpse of a completely new SUV generation," implying that a car similar to this concept might go into production soon. Besides this, the automaker is also gearing up to launch the ID.UX, an electric sub-brand in China, along with the ID.Unyx, a rebranded Cupra Tavascan SUV later this year.

Volkswagen ID.Code Concept: Styling Details

Volkswagen ID CODE Rear

The ID.Code differs significantly from the brand's existing EV lineup in terms of appearance. It has a swept-back roofline and a streamlined profile. The front wheel arches are especially well-defined, blending seamlessly into the shoulder line and meeting a straightforward rectangular rear light bar. A lighting system called the "Light Cloud with interactive 3D eyes", transforms the concept into a "digital avatar", providing information to the driver and other road users. A visual and audio welcome sequence plays when the owner approaches the car, and the bodywork beneath the light bar is partially transparent. The weather prediction for the next two hours is also displayed.

Volkswagen ID.Code Concept: Interior Components

The seats on the interior can be rotated. The cabin houses two main screens: a display panel that spans from the driver's side to the passenger side and a primary infotainment system. A futuristic-looking ambient lighting system that can display a variety of animations and an AI assistant are two other attractions. The company further says that the car has level-4 autonomous driving functions and can be operated both manually and autonomously.
