Thirty three ice rinks from across North America are quarter finalists in the 'Light Like the Pros' promotion. Top prize will be a $50,000 sports lighting system.

Syracuse-based Ephesus Lighting (which has been acquired by Eaton power management, which also owns the Crouse Hinds Plant on 7th North Street) is coordinating the promotion with the American Hockey League (all the rinks have AHL teams using them).

The area rinks still in the running are:
Cortland's Alumni Ice Arena (where the Binghamton Devils skate)
Baldwinsville's Lysander Ice Arena (used by the Syracuse Crunch)
Clinton Arena.Edward Stanley Recreation Center (Utica Comet's rink)

To advance in the competition, the rinks need to collect online votes (at LightLikeThe Pros.com). Deadline is February 2nd, then the ten top rinks will be semi-finalists. The winner will be announced in March.
